5 Great Winter Date Ideas

On prior blog post, we explained how museums can be great places to go on dates. Stepping out of the conventional “dinner and a movie” date will allow you to get to know your date in a more laid back way, since you’ll be doing interactive activities and not just sitting at a table. Here are five great experience-based date ideas you can use as the weather gets colder:

Spoon together

Sure, restaurants are guaranteed to make your taste buds happy, but why not pick a recipe or two and try to make it all from scratch? It’s a way to have fun and fill up your home with warmth and yummy smells. A French onion soup to warm you up on these chilly fall nights is a perfect example of something you could whip up.  And as an added perk: there’s no awkward cajoling to take her back to your place.

Take to the ice

Ice-skating is an innocent activity guaranteed to make you laugh. Whether you are as smooth on the ice as a New York Ranger, or as clumsy as, well, the Sparkology staff, ice-skating can be exciting for everyone. Plus, it’s a great excuse to hold your date’s hand… Be sure to warm up with some hot chocolate afterwards!

Cheer on a team

Go root for your favorite team this season! Football is great on chilly fall nights, and when the temperature really drops head indoors to a basketball court or hockey rink. You don’t have to spend a fortune on a professional game though, check out your local colleges or town leagues to see when teams are playing.

Work the holiday cheer

There are so many fall fairs themed with turkeys and pumpkins, and holiday fairs are starting to spring up! Go sip some hot cider while you walk around looking at all the local goodies for sale. For example, the Union Square holiday market that opened this week sell unique crafts you can explore and peruse. You may even get some of that holiday shopping out of the way!

Bowl her over

Was the last time you went bowling at your seventh grade birthday party? Then you’ve probably forgotten how amusing it can be. Head to your closest bowling alley and get ready to put on those ridiculous shoes. Fine… If you’re absolutely terrible you can play with those gutter buffers. Some bowling alleys in New York, such as Lucky Strikes and Bowlmor Lanes, are meant for adults and offer drinks, food, and entertainment.
